Shed Bases
Bases

Your Base must be ready in advance; you will need a minimum of 1ft clearance around the Base in order to regularly treat the building, this will also allow for the over-hang of the roof of the building. The base must be fence posts, slabs or a concrete base. The Base must be level and firm. We offer a base laying service (tanalised bearer base) onto a flat level area. If the base is unsuitable, the shed will be dropped off and must be paid for. You may also incur an additional charge if you wish us to come back and install the shed at a later date.

A SHED IS AS GOOD AS IT'S BASE!

Tanalised Bearers
  • 6X4 = 4
  • 7X5 = 5
  • 8X6 = 6
  • 10X6 = 7

A shed stands better on a well laid and level base.

Base Preparation

In order to ensure you receive years of enjoyment and service from your sectional building it is important that you ensure that the site is not prone to regular flooding and you prepare the site for your building properly. Base preparation need not be an elaborate work of art, so long as the end result is an area of ground that is square, level and firm. We recommend that you use either of the following methods:

Floor Bearers

Floor bearers are lengths of treated timber, i.e. 3"x2" tanalised posts, which are laid under our floor joist in the opposite direction. It is important to ensure that all vegetation and turf etc. is removed from the site, ensuring that the bearers are laid down on firm ground and are levelwith each other by use of a spirit level. Floor bearers should be of sufficient length to fit under the floor joists, laid one at each end, and then approximately 16" to 19" centers. This will give sufficient support to the floor joists ans ensure that the building will be a stable construction. For further information contact our office.

Slab Base

Your new sectional building can be erected directly on to a concrete base, or slabbed area as described above. When laying concrete slabs it is important to ensure that the slabs are laid onto firm sub-soil topped with sand, gravel or a dry mix of sand and cement, making sure, by use of a spirit level, that the slabs are level.
Please note: Wood is a natural material and is susceptible to swelling and shrinkage, due to different weather conditions.
